No Stereo Option?
Just installed Mavericks ver 10.9.2 with my ProTools 10 (ver 10.3.8) and the latest core audio driver (MBox package:1.2.0 fw:1.0.8).
Panning in ProTools does nada. The entire session (and yes, even new sessions) are all in Mono no matter what. Even stranger, when I open iTunes with PT closed, I only get audio in the L channel. But when I open up ProTools while running iTunes, i get a mono signal in both speakers. - toggling the "mono" button does nothing. - playing with the pan in the MBox Core Audio thing in system preferences does nada. Any thoughts as to what's going on? I did notice that this was an error according to Avid in the previous MBox drivers (the one before the Mavericks update). Is it possible that this error came back? Between this and the $600 upgrade fee to get PT11, I might be moving on to a different audio setup. This isn't fun. |

Re: No Stereo Option?
You jumped the gun and do not have an approved setup.
a) nothing is approved for 10.9.2 b) 10.3 is not approved for 10.9.anything, mostly do to the Uninstaller not working with Gate Keeper I don't want to sound like a hard ass but you are completely off the grid for support

Re: No Stereo Option?
a) I saw many posts from 10.3 users on Mavericks with no problems.
b) Didn't have a choice going to Mavericks since my Mac Mail on 10.8 wouldn't send, now it does. ProTools 10 is actually working great in Mavericks and they only show three errors with a co-install, nothing about mono only. It's clearly a driver issue since it's a problem outside of PT. Should be a simple patch to allow audio to be recognized on one other channel, no? I'll just work in mono (thank god I just do VO) until there's an update. Or.... maybe start checking out Adobe Audition now. Hummmmm. |

I like Audition as that's my mastering solution for PT10 and 11. Works great in OSX 10.8.5. I'd stay with PT but either roll back to ML or get the PT11 upgrade. |

Re: No Stereo Option?
??? You have PT10, then you can upgrade for $299, not $600.

Re: No Stereo Option?
Alright, I upgraded to PT 11.1.2 on my Mac OSX 10.9.2, and guess what?!
Yep, still no stereo. When the MBox's "mono" button isn't active, only one channel (R) works, but when mono is pushed, yep I hear a nice mono sound from both speakers. Oh, so glad to spend all that money and still have the same problem. Anyone running PT 11.1.2 and OSX 10.9.2 with no problem? If so, did you have to change the MIDI Mapping settings in the mac Audio Midi Setup? So frustrated. |
