Default Mbox2 Win7 64bit - Robot sound

I recently bought a mbox2. I have an acer with 4 GB of RAM. When I updated to 8.0.3 and Win7 64bit drivers it worked at first. But after a short time I got this robot like sound. I have no idea what to do. Have anybody experienced this? Please help :)

This is a common issue. Avid is aware of it and has noted that a solution will most likely be in the next dot release. I cured the issue by adding more matched fast RAM, going to all WD Black drives (32MB cache), using a TI firewire card and overclocking the system 20%.

I am capable of adding more RAM. But I have no idea how to overclock a firewire card. My Mbox2 is USB anyway.

Thanks for reply anyway. Maybe I have to wait for the new update. :)

Any idea on when the next release will be?? I can't believe avid knows the problem and instead of fixing it with a CS, they make us suffer more.

Not to play devil's advocate, but that's CLEARLY posted as a BETA version, as in "run it at your own risk."

At this point it's very hard to know for sure. If beta testing goes well it should be soon.

I bought a Samsung Notebook RF711, Win 7, 64-bit, INTEL i7 processor.

I replaced W7 by WXP-SP2 so I could use my Mbox2Mini (2nd generation) + Pro Tools LE 7.3.

Out of the Mbox2Mini came a robotic sound.

What did I do?

I went to the support website of Samsung and typed in RF711; I was directed to the site...

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/de...ce%20Notebook#

... on this site I downloaded all the XP drivers and additional software for all the applications of my RF711 notebook like USB-controllers, WIFI, INTEL grafic card, Chipset...

After that the robotic sound was gone, but... Pro Tools wasn't working very well as I had to increase the buffer size + the counter stopped sometimes for a second before it went on...

This problem was gone after I closed my WIFI connection and ended Windows (automatic) Update.

Then another problem appeared as I updated my computer later on to WXP-SP3... Suddenly I couldn't open Pro Tools anymore. I went to the add/remove panel and removed Windows Media Player 11. (WMP 11 was not really removed, but put back to its originaly settings, which is WMP 9.)

My conclusion: a robotic sound is a problem that appears when all the components of your computer are not working together in an efficient way. You have to update, or replace, the drivers of all the inside hardware.
An when Pro Tools asks you to increase the buffer size, you have to close all the programs on your computer that are running constantly + try to connect with internet the whole time.
