Default Audio Files folder (silent/old files)

I use Pro Tools LE 7.1.1 on Mac OS X and I'm getting a few songs mixed/mastered. Before I send the session files off, I noticed that my Audio Files folders contain lots of silent .WAV files and other .WAV files from tracks that I recorded, but ultimately deleted. I want to get rid of all of these unneeded audio files. I tried selecting unused regions and deleting them (shift + command + U), but nothing happened.

Is there another way to do this, or do I have to go through each file and see if I actually need it in the song?

Thanks.

I don't know about the delete-command that didn't work.
Can't you just "select...unused regions" from the region bin menu and then select "remove" from the same menu? You will then have "delete" aswell as "remove" as options.

all i gotta say is be very careful when deleting files or you will learn a very hard lesson. unless you are backed up, then its all good.

OK, here's a suggestion: It's what I usually do in a similar situation:

Select unused adio files
Remove them (not delete)
Do a "save session copy..."
Close session without saving changes.

This way you get a new session folder with just the audiofiles in use to send to your mixer.
The original session is untouched.
