Default how to just get a guitar chord strumming sound with virtual instruments?

so how do you get a guitar strumming sound in protools? so for example like say i wanted the sound you get when u pick up a guitar and just start strumming c chord? how do you replicate this with pro tools virtual instruments???

my setup is just a maudio midi keyboard connected to protools, so everytime i try to use xpand and select one of the guitar sounds im limited by what i can do with the keyboard, all i can play is single notes due to the keyboard, its like impossible to get that strumming sound?

any way of doing this with the built in virtual instruments or do i need to buy other virtual software addons? (all i have is pt with ezdrummer)

thanks

You'd need a VI that has samples of strummed guitar chords. Not sure, but check the Xpand plugin that comes with Pro Tools - it very well may have a chord strumming patch.

AAS Strum Acoustic GS-1 Guitar Software Synth

I just got this as a audiomidi.com no brainer deal...$20 buck.....yeah and it sounds really good.......Pickup selector onboard reverb.....and some other controls.......I am using this to put scratch tracks together when comp'ing a new song...really nice especially at $20

Ehhh.... There are a lot of VIs out there with fairly convincing guitar sounds, but most of them aren't $20, and tend to take some painstaking effort to make it sound real, especially at a beginner level.

You're better off just picking up a guitar, or calling over a friend who has one. Learning how to strum a guitar will give you more skills than learning how to edit a midi instrument to sound like a guitar.

Very true - it's difficult to "replicate" a guitar sound with a VI.

Google 'Midi Guitar' and see what comes up.

Have to agree though, the real thing is hard to beat

is there a vi which i can for example, play the c note on the keyboard and it will spit out a strummed c chord guitar sound,? likewise if i then played g on the keyboard it would sound like a guitar strumming a g chord, ? then say i could customize notes together to get variations like g7 or diminished chords?

im willing to pay good money for the vi - (i bought ez drummer from toontracks as i hated boom) so i want to buy a specialised guitar VI which is not simple to use

elmo 555, By the time you find a virtual instrument plug in that enables you to do the strumming thing you could have bought a guitar and learned to strum chords. Oh, and I forgot. You'd also need a mic.
