Default Different name length depending on file type?

How come, an *.aif can have a longer file name than a *.mov when BTD?

And please Digi, let Pro Tools check whether the file name is short enough before bouncing and not after having bounced - it's rather time consuming at the moment.

Thanks

Timothy
