Latest XP Pro Drivers.

I am running Pro Tools 7.0 with an Asus A8N Sli Motherboard and Nvidia drivers.

Does anyone know where I can find the appropriate XP drivers?

Apparently some members had problems with this Motherboard and the Nvidia drivers.

Which ones do I need?

I believe the stock drivers are on the XP install CD.

When you install windows on this machine, leave all drivers included in the install alone. The system will run fine, and protools is happy.

If your installing protools on top of a system with drivers already installed, you should be able to 'roll back' all the drivers to the initial xp drivers. BUT, I would recommend doing a fresh install to avoid any problems if you have that option.

I had someone else put my new system together, so I am unsure which drivers are installed.

Which XP drivers should I install and where should I check for them?

I really don't want to do a fresh install of XP.

Can I check to see which drivers I am using and just install the ones I need?

It is possible to do a repair on your Windows XP Pro installation. It will replace and repair any driver problems with your installation ... and it will not change anything in your present file system either, however you will have to go and get all of the Windows updates, from MS's site. All the info you need to do this is at www.worldstart.com ... go to their 'Windows Tips' page and search for 'Repair Windows XP Install' and follow the instructions ... and before you know it you'll be up and running in no time at all. I have used it successfully a couple of times myself, so I know it works as advertised ...

I have been running pretty much the same setup you have with XP drivers, Nvidia didn´t EVER work until I tried these quite current drivers a couple of days ago. Everything is faster compared to XP drivers now. Finally.


Before you install the drivers: Make a system restore point so you can go back in case it makes no improvement. Or even better, ghost your system drive.
