Default layback problem with SONY HDW-M2000

I am trying to do a 4 channel layback to the SONY HDW-M2000. WHen I try to punch in 4 channels from my CMX-3600 edit controller, the M2000 tries to record over channels 1 and 2 AND the timecode channel. Granted, protools is incidental equipment with respect to this issue, but I am unable to find the answer in the complex SONY M2000 manual. Any ideas?? Out there in inner space??

thank you and I'll report your saintliness to the proper authorities

I recall having this type of problem with 1" machines. I cannot remember if it was channel 3 or channel 4 that triggered the TC channel. In the Sony interface specs there is a separate designation for ANALOG 1&2 and TC, versus DIGITAL 1,2,3,4. I vaguely remember having to instruct the controller whether I meant analog or digital channels. I don't know what to do with this information to help you, but maybe it is a clue.

Also, is the analog cue track being enabled as well?

I've seen a similar problem with the MicroLynx. In my case, the MicroLynx thought a BetaSP was a Digi Beta, and wanted to record over the timecode. Resetting the MicroLynx and verifying that it was detecting the BetaSP as a BetaSP solved it.
