Beat Detective hang-ups
Beat Detective isn't always the most well-behaved tool on the block. I use it often and it does me well. However, there are just some situations when I cannot make it do what I want. Just hoping for some answers:
#1) Why is it that a "conform" over multi-track drum tracks occasionally results in moving only a fraction of the tracks? Sometimes I make a selection, separate regions, and the conform doesn't shift all the tracks in unison. It will for example, move the overheads and room tracks, but leave everything else in it's initial place. What is the meaning of this?
#2) Why does conform sometimes decide to quantize beats with an entire note value deviation? I will have a groove with strictly 8th note performance, (select contains 1/8 notes), separate via 1/8 note resolution, conform via 1/8 value, and the kick drum and snare will conform completely out of position, one 1/8 note off of it's expected destination. My selections are on the grid, the actual performance is healthy, and close enough to the grid that there's absolutely no reason for it to quantize a whole 1/8 earlier/later. Would the time signature of the session have any effect on something like this?
These troubles are few and far between, but I would like to understand what it is I am doing wrong when the troubles arise. Thanks in advance!
