Default Masterlist cd playing fast

Just upgraded to 5.0 and now I'm having problems with Masterlist cd. Digi sound hardware keeps defaulting to internal sync even if I reset it to digital sync. With internal sync, my soundfiles play fast. This occasionally happened with 4.2, but I esd sble to correct it by rebooting the sytem. I've tried tossing the pro-tools and Masterlist preferences and resetting Pro-tools for digi sync, but it doesn't change anything. BTW, if my Pro-tools session isn't set to digi sync the files play fast also. In Masterlist even audio files imported using Toast play fast, but if I switch to the Mac sound hardware, evrything plays at the correct speed. HELP!!
May have nothing to do with it, but since the upgrade I can't get my USB to show up in the session setup window.

Resetting the USD seems to have solved both the speed and USD problems. However, I am having a large number of crashes where the "Pro-Tools has unexpectadly quit" warning comes up. (w/ 4.3 I'd get those every once in awhile)

When I tried to restart my computer (putty colored G-3 Mac) I got a "finder error 8" bomb and had to manually reset the computer (power down and then back up) because the restart button (as usual in these situations) doesn't work. Disk First Aid ran automatically after rebooting but the same thing happened again a short time later.

This happened twice this afternoon and was about 50% of the time that I closed Pro-Tools.
Thanks for the help.

Sorry, I should have told you that I'm running a Panasonic 3800 into the AES input of the Pro-tools. Unit is set to 44.1

Mark,

For starters we're going to need to establish what you master clock is. The problem your are describing seems to be related to clock (or lack of clock). From your email I can't tell what pro tools hardware you are using so can you please tell me what your setup is and also tell me what gear do you have connected to the s/pdif or aes inputs on your interface.

Thanks,

Running mix plus w/ 3-888's.

What memory settings for Pro-Tools and DAE would you suggest?

Thanks

Mark,
I still don't know how much total ram you have in the computer so I'm going to give you the settings based on you having the minimum amount of ram required to run pro tools 5.0 (128 megs)- Here ya go:

Pro-Tools- Min- 21,729
pref 35,000
DAE - Min- 10,015
Pref - 30,000

MEMORY disc cache- 256k

This should take care of your type 3 errors. After you make these changes remember that the minimum settings should not be changed, only the preferred settings.

Let me know what happens

Pro-Tools is now crashing every time I close it. I get a mesage saying it's caused by and "error of type 3".

Memory allocations are as follows:

Pro-Tools- Min- 41,729
pref 49,200

DAE - Min- 20,000
Pref - 30,00

MEMORY disc cache- 928k

Any suggestions?? Thanks
