Default using 7 cores instead of 8

I heard that running 7 cores can run protools more smoothly then using 8. Anyone confirm this? Also bring me to my next question. When I go to playback engine my only option is 8 cores... How do i change to 7?

Can you click the drop down there to reveal the other 7 cores?

Yes.

When you set your processing engine to one less than the total number of cores available, you're effectively keeping one core asside to run everything else (ie, the OS) - which can reduce the chance of various errors popping up.

What version of tools are you running? Support for selecting multiple cores on Hyperthreaded processors like the core i7 was not included till 7.4 CS10 and I think 8 CS3.
