Default Best Control Surface under $1500

Don't have the budget or space for a Control 24. I'll get something better when I have more room.

In the meantime..

I'm looking at Tascam US2400 (24 faders), and several 8 fader control surfaces, such as Digi Command 8, Mackie Universal Control, and Tascam FW 1802 and Tascam 1884.

Any experience with these?

Any Pros and Cons comments would be appreciated.

Mark

I love my Command 8 and I wouldn't go with anything else currently out in the same price range. I believe the C8 will access a lot more functionality in PT than the third party "HUI type" control surfaces but I don't know for sure because I haven't actually used them.

does the command8 have the ability to load eq's reverb's and dynamic's plugs that you've set as your standard plugs? If that makes any sense?

like, you could set sony oxford eq to be the standard eq that you will want to use usually for an eq......

just thinking outloud

blah blah blah,
adam

You can't actually insert a plug-in with the C8, only select a plug-in already inserted and control it.

the original hui with 1.45 system has a lot more functionality that the universal control actualy even more than control 8 more dedicated buttons and works great with pt7. you can probably find one cheap.

As an additional controller to any fader pack, you can also look into adding the Belkin N52 Nostromo. I just picked one up, and it's very cool.
It's completely programmable, and can be used to program key commands with a single click.
