vocal levels
Hi everyone, I'm having trouble with a vocal mix were the vocal is loud in some places and soft in others. I've got a compressor on that sounds great . I'm not sure the best way to use automation for the levels. I'm using the standard LE plugins, Any suggestions?
Thank you. KC |

Re: vocal levels
I'm relatively new to PT (caveat), but I adjust my volume trouble spot automations manually.
First, change the track display from "waveform" to "volume". Then, using the grabber tool to insert breakpoints, I will carefully notch out an unusually high peak, and also boost any low points that aren't increased sufficiently enough via compression gain. This way, I can have an overall higher vocal volume on a track without going into overload, and the volumes are relatively consistant where desired. I'm sure there are much easier and better ways, however. |
