Yes, it's more trouble than it's worth in its current incarnation. I'm sure they'll iron it out eventually but maybe they should have ironed it out before public release? The feature shows promise.

When a new feature is unusable because of basic operational issues that is a bug…or an improperly implemented feature. Either way, this is not the way a industry leading company should release major, well publicized, eagerly anticipated, new features. This has to be embarrassing for AVID.

Did some overdubs today with the old ARA joy. That was a laugh.

I posted about this elsewhere in this thread. I've only ever experienced this once when I engaged ARA on a whole lead vocal clip. When I edit short clips, I never get this message. That is how I'm using ARA; on short 4-bar clips at a time. This works for me, and I've abandoned the old way of transferring a whole track into Melodyne. I do sometimes get split-second stalls in PT when using ARA continuously for long stretches. A little annoying, but not enough for me to go back to the old Melodyne workflow.

An interesting aside... as illogical as this may sound, I'm getting far fewer artifacts from Melodyne edits compared to working the old way. This could be due to various factors, including the fact that I would occasionally use elastic audio before or after Melodyne. Anything to get the job done.

An example of this is something I'm currently working on. I did extensive Melodyne editing on the lead vocal because both pitch and time were recorded sloppily. Rephrasing some of the lines called for extreme time correction sometimes, and the results were not always acceptable due to artifacts. Revisiting this vocal using ARA has been amazing! I've made exactly the same pitch and time corrections, and the difference in quality is really something to talk about! Clean, natural, and artifact-free. What I like most is the freedom to edit clips simultaneously and seamlessly in both PT and Melodyne.

Yes, PT ARA is still in its infancy and is not perfect, but believe me, there's a lot to say for it here.

Is there a way to completely remove melodyne other than restoring the project from a backup?

The "Saving ARA data" is completely killing my workflow. It happens on save but also almost every time when I stop the transport. Even after I committed (rendered) all melodyne audio, "Saving ARA data" is still popping up every other minute.

If that helps, here are my specs:

Mac Mini 2020 3,2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7, 32 GB
macOS Monterey 12.6 with the latest updates
Pro Tools Studio 2022.09
Melodyne Assistant 5.3.0.011

Even though I'm not getting the pop-up, I suspect ARA is constantly working in the background, because I do get constant little stalls that I never had in 22.7.

I agree this release must be embarrassing for Avid. But here's the thing: they bring out these unfinished releases all the time. Do they even get embarrassed?
I do hope they'll straighten this thing out soon, though, together with the MIDI.

Yes, I'm getting it as well.
Mac Studio, Monterey 12.5.1

I don't want to turn off the auto-save feature but I may try it and see if it helps.

So after spending a few hours on a 13 min live performance doing doing a ton of edits with Melodyne ARA my workflow bogged way down. I did a 'save as' and removed the melodyned tracks and audio (not deleted from disk, just from audio bin). When I went back to the previously saved version all the ARA data was lost. !@%!%$. Where is the ARA data being saved if not in the session file? What did I do wrong?

WARNING WARNING WARNING. Ug ... lesson learned. Hours lost.

Same issue for me. I'd rather spend the time importing audio into Melodyne the old fashion way then be constantly interrupted. I could manage my time and workflow more efficiently.

Also happening every time I "save" or "save as"

I like what we're shooting for with the integration but currently it wastes more time which gets really annoying when you have a lot of work to do.

my specs:
Mac Studio (2022), Apple M1 Ultra, 64 GB Memory
OS Monterey 12.6
Pro Tools 2022.9
Melodyne Studio 5.3.0.011
