Combining Midi regions question
Guys, I've looked all over for this simple feature but can't find it in the manual or web.
I have 4 or five different midi regions on different tracks I'd like to combine down into one region one track. Is this not possible in PT? Other DAWS would give you a glue tool etc... I'm not talking about consolidate,.I know how that is done. what I need is to combine midi clips from different tracks. Seems when I drag one on the other only the top plays. Either this is a simple button I can't find or a must have feature request for anyone who use midi. thanks in advance PM |

I've got the same stuff on my regions - I usually just group them - I hope there is one that would paste them all together - however its just appearances b/c it won't change the playback

Re: Combining Midi regions question
Paste!....that's the word I was looking for.
wow! simple thing like that not possible. I understand playback isn't affected but I don't need to see 9 different tracks of midi drums anyone route to the same VI,..you know? thx for the quick chime ! Best- PM |

Re: Combining Midi regions question
I've wondered this too, I think. When I use Massey's DRT, I grab kik midi then snare then toms. What I'd like to do is drag them all onto one instrument track so they can trigger their respective samples. What happens now is like the OP said I think-dragging or copy/paste midi just deletes the midi that's already on the instrument track. I'm stumped.

Re: Combining Midi regions question
yes, I dunno? I suppose not many midi users,...or perhaps die-hards give Avid a pass on this because midi is new to PT I suppose?
sorely overlooked feature,...every DAW has,... select a bunch of midi drum tracks, hit a button... they're all joined together... OK,..I'd settle for no button but let me drag them on top of one another without deleting each other.... I mean......Wha? |

Re: Combining Midi regions question
PT doesn't have a quick way to do this, but there is a way. It's called "Merge."
1. Select the MIDI notes you want to move to another track. 2. "Cut". 3. Place your cursor on the destination track. 4. "Merge". |
