Default Presonus Faderport

Anyone using this? I am currently using Command 8 and think I could live with only one fader, if I could get the automation mode selection buttons (which Command 8 doesn't have). I wonder how well the read, write and touch buttons work with Pro Tools? Any opinions?

It's actually quite good for what it is. All of the controls work perfectly with pro tools, and the fader tracks and feels good. Sometimes it makes a mechanical clicking sound in the fader when parked--like it's caught between two breakpoints and can't decide where to park. Fader off takes care of that. Very small foot print on the desk.

For under two hundred dollars it's great!!!

I agree with Steve. It's a great little unit. If you have more than a dozen tracks or so, it's a small hassle getting it to the proper track you want. (In those cases, I prefer going with a larger unit anyway, like a C24).

But if you have small sessions and only need one fader, it's the bomb. If you are currently stuck with a mouse and no control surface at all, GET THIS! You will love it.

How difficult is it to navigate around the mixing window to adjust what it is that your controlling with the Faderport?

Not too much of a pain, but I find it mostly gets used for recording automation on important parts (like lead vox), so it spends a lot of time parked on one track anyway.

Sounds good! Because I'm right-handed, I think I would like to place it to right next to keyboard. I wonder if you mess the other controls how easily with your palm and other fingers, when adjusting the fader with your forefinger? Wouldn't it make more sense to have the fader at the right side of the unit? What's the logic?

That hasn't been an issue here. I find it's easy to move the fader without touching the buttons. Not to mention, the buttons are pretty firm and probably wouldn't be accidentally pressed.

Yes, makes sense.

Thanks.

Sounds very good. One thing came into mind. Can the track the fader is controlling follow automatically the selected track where the cursor is (presuming that you have only one track selected)? Or do you have always manually find the correct track from Faderport?

Also, I guess that it's impossible to have both Faderport and Command 8 working at the same time?
