I have a four second loop set up and I have a clip in that four seconds I want to nudge around:
http://imageshack.com/a/img703/8982/extb.png Is there any way I can keep the loop points exactly at 0:51 and 0:55 while I nudge? Whenever I nudge now the clip as well as the looped region moves in unison thus changing the start and end points. Obviously if I turn link timeline and edit selection off, I can keep the loop points and drag the clip using the mouse, but its slow and clunky, I want to nudge with the keyboard. |

From your picture, you have made a selection over at least 3 tracks (by grouping or by making a selection in the timeline).
Ungroup, if applicable; make the selection for the loop 0:51 and 0:55 directly within track 1. Playback start. Select/nudge clip "PL1Huh2..." via keyboard shortcut. Loop will continue within 0:51 and 0:55 until playback stops, although timeline selection shows the "PL1Huh2..." time.

I think I just made a selection in the timeline.
If I make a selection on track 1, with "Link time line and edit selection" on as soon as I click on clip I want to nudge, I lose my loop I have just made. With "Link timeline and edit selection" off I can't make a loop, the playhead just plays past the end of my selection |

Ahhh I see. So I can only nudge a clip after I've started playback? Then when playback stops, it stops looping and I have to make my loop again if I need to make changes.
Is there no way to make it operate as it does in logic with cycle mode? I.e. you can make a loop, stop it and start it at will, and still be able to nudge? |

Yes. You had it right before - unlink timeline and edit selection. Then set your loop by dragging a selection in the ruler (ie where it says minutes and seconds at the top of your screen grab) instead of in the main edit window. Now it will loop that selection until you click elsewhere in the ruler, use a memory location, or relink timeline and edit selection.
Oh, and you also need to make sure 'timeline insertion follows playback' is switched OFF, otherwise the playhead will relocate the first time you hit stop and you will lose your loop. |

Link Timeline and Edit Selection : on Link Track and Edit Selection : on Select desired loop, Link Timeline and Edit Selection : off Link Track and Edit Selection : off select clip to nudge, use "+" / "-" on the numeric keyboard pad to nudge (not M , : -) loop will stay, even if you stop playback

I'm not in front of Pro Tools at the moment, but, IIRC, there is a keyboard shortcut to move/nudge audio within a Region - as long as there is audio beyond the Region boundary, ie the Region has been trimmed back on one or both sides. The Region boundary stays in place, but the audio inside the Region moves.
Cheers,

I believe, that would not help as the task seems to be a placement of the "Huh".
