Default Best external HD to use with PTLE/iMac setup?

I'm needing a new external HD - as my sessions increase in size and density i'm finding my external Western Digital HD can't stream audio fast enough. I'm assuming it's due to the fact the HD is getting on in age, and I don't think it contains the Oxford 911 chipset which may/may not be beneficial for my purposes.

So, what best suits a PTLE/iMac setup? What brands are there? It's going to be a specialized PT session HD so what features should I look for, and what should I avoid? And also, what's the average (expected) life span of such a device? It'll be connected via firewire port.

I've been told Glyph are the way to go, but do you think I can find them in Australia? No way - I struggle to find their products on the internet from anywhere. The only brands I ever see are Western Digital, Seagate, and Lacie (i've had bad experiences with Lacie so i'm crossing them off the list straight away).

Any suggestions?

Yes forget about Lacie. POS
Glyph prices have dropped. they are great.

If you have one of those Western Digital ibook or whatever ... black enclosure FW drives,
they are know to go to sleep and stop working... PT won't like it.
