Default Transposing midi notes

I can't for the life of me find/work out the shortcut for transposing a midi note up and down without having to use the event operations transpose tool.

Sure, I can manually drag the note up and down with the mouse, but there must be a way to do this using the keyboard. Like in Logic, alt + up/down/left/right arrows moves midi notes in this way.

Agreed, but there is another way to transpose notes. If you click on the note to be moved(which highlights it) you can go up to the MIDI properties box and look for 3 number values. The middle number is the velocity(volume) of the note(which you can click/drag up/down at will). I can't remember what the bottom number is, but the top number is the note value and you can click/drag on it and watch the midi note(in the piano roll) move up/down as you drag that number up/down.

Took me a little while to find which box you meant (selection display was not ticked). I like that feature. It isn't necessarily any quicker than doing it with the mouse, but it does mean I don't have to worry about the notes position being inadvertently moved from its position in the grid, which was the main problem I was having. Thanks

if you hold the shift-key during moving with the mouse, the start-position remains
