Default digi001 with a mac9600? a mixer, too? EASY HELP...

thank you for reading.

i'll be using a powermac 9600 for protoolsFREE, and then for
protools LE with the digi001. am i right in thinking my 9600
will be ok running protools LE. do i need to mess with the processor
speed? should i just get a lot of memory, like more than 200MB?
how much memory, speed...?

also, is it just always best to have a mixer to use with the
digi001, like a mackie mixer, so you're mixing/boosting before the signal
gets into protools?

thank you very much.
