Default Recommend an Analog Channel Strip

Im looking for a stereo "channel strip" to add a valve warmth to my PT mixdowns (plus use Logic also)

Since dropping my Mixing desk etc, I've found it harder to mix all ITB and wondered about getting one of these, and permanantly attaching to the mix buss (to mix through also)

I haven't used one before but have been told to check out the following,

TL Audio A2 (Stereo) processor
Avalon 737
Focusrite RED
SPL Channel One
UA 6136

The Channel strip has to be stereo, (some of these maybe mono above?) as I only record VST's internally to bounced audio but would like something to mix through to give a analog and valve warmth
on the Master outputs and back in again.

I used to do this with an old Alesis compressor which sounded ok, but was noisy and realise that these dedicated
strips and analog channel units maybe a better bet, for mixing in/out of Logic/Protools.

Preferably Compression, EQ and any valve warmth

Does anybody have any good recommendations or something different to get an analog sound to mix through and record back into PT/ Logic as a master?

I'm a big fan of SPL- but asking this is like asking the group what their preference in ice cream is... everyone is going to give you their preference and it may lead to a bewildering list of choices- not especially helpful.

You might want to find a dealer that can supply you with some demo units, the best way to choose a device like this is to hear it, preferably in your own space, running your own program material through it...

These two would be a formidable combo IMO for around $4k

Tracking with Kajun Kelly today, btw, Drew. He says hello.

I have just been informed that you know Eric Scott as well - he just piped up saying I should give you a big 'what's up!' from E.

what kind of desk did you have before? Have you looked at the UBK Fatso?

I had a Sony DMX R100 at one point but sold it years ago, thankfully while it was still worth something. I now use the Duality at Sheffield, the Oxford at Peabody, or my hybrid analog/PT system at my studio.

I own a UBK Fatso, it is great.

Tell Eric I said hello!!

EDIT: oops, thought you were talking to me!!! :)

I had a Soundcraft Ghost 24-8 with Parametrics, a couple of cheap compressors and in the end used to use the DAW on 2 tracks (stereo) through the desk/comps and onto DAT

So nothing special..

Now im on PTHD and still plug ins (on the master) dont seem to cut it as ive heard hardware in the past.. So anything just to compress, eq and warm up (valves) the master would be good..

As thinking about it I was just using the desk (at the end) as a 2 track EQ, compression channel strip. So i would think an Analog strip like mentioned above or something like TL Audio A2, or Avalon 747, would be sonically much better (and smaller) than my old desk setup!

buckaroo -

I'd look at

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/so-mu...nel-strip.html

Good stuff on there.

Also -

this company is really good:

Drew -

Good to know about your preferred setups, and the UBK stuff is on my wish-list. Didn't know about the Duality - thought he still had the beat up 4000G. Stop on by anytime - Jim Ebert / Kajun and I are here down in Red Room all week.

I know you're looking at hardware, but there's a software product that has a lot of buzz that's coming out probably in May. The Virtual Console Collection by Steven Slate Digital. It consists of 2 variations, one for individual channels and one for the mix buss and is modeled after various consoles. You can read about it here:
