Default Eventide H3000 sale at AD

While looking through the Audio Deluxe site for the Waves EMI TG12345 channel strip I saw they have the Eventide H3000 plugin for $199 and when in cart it drops another $30 for about a 50% discount. Sale until end of April.

Been playing around with the demo for about a week now and find it does some interesting things. Anyone else here using it and what do you think? Worth the price or give it a miss?

It's a special effect that no other can match. Sometimes you need it, most often you don't.

You are lucky to have the hardware version. All I would have to live with is the software. Speaking of that for anyone that has an earlier version there is apparently an updated version that was put up on the Eventide site April 1 of this year.

My issue with the software is that it does not contain all the algorithms. Most importantly to me is the pitch shifting algorithm which I use the most. It makes no sense why they do this. Soundtoys is my favorite substitute for what the H3k offers.

Don't the pitch shift blocks in the H3000 s/w do the same thing as the hardware? I've not worked with the h/w unit. What other algo's is the s/w missing then?

Hey Steve, I would be very interested in your more detailed thoughts on this.

I will have to say I am wrong if it has the PS blocks. I know it is only some of the algortithms of the H3k and thought that PS was one of the missing ones. I am obviously not going to repeat the other ones I thought it was missing if I was wrong on this. OK, I will say I am pretty sure the Reverb algorithms are missing for instance. But I believe it also comes with the B frame presets which is one bonus. I have a B frame unit but upgraded it to the D/SE. But everywhere I worked had a couple, I have one, the studio I track at has a multiple 3k's and 35k's, so never got to caught up into wanting the software. I never understood why they would leave algorithms out and make many of the presets and uses of the hardware missing. I use effects based from it on most things somewhere whether I use the hardware or ST plugs is the variable.

I havent used the plugin so cant get to detailed into it. Just think its a bit odd to market it as a H3K Ultra, but then only containing a portion of what the H3K Ultra's contained. I actually wonder if it did not have to do with the limitations of DSP and what could fit on a chip. Since this is a direct port of the TDM version, here we are, still living with those consequences.

There isn't reverb in it I can tell you that much. They have a fully functional 30 day demo of it so you could give it a go if you wanted to. iLok needed though.
