Default Help! constant -9129 error using Mbox

Riddle me this: I've got an Mbox which had been running just fine on my Compaq 1700 series laptop (xp pro, 256 RAM, Pentium III) but now gives error -9129 "Audio Processing Is Conflicting with other Audio Tasks." So what changed on my computer ? Well, not too much. I installed a few extra programs of late, set the base language to Russian to use some of these programs (ok, ok, some are bootlegged copies), and that's about it. meanwhile, i went back and checked the xp configuration settings recommended by digidesign and also tried about 90% of the xp audio tweakings page. result? same shXt different day. any ideas? or can anyone point to a comprehensive pro tools list of xp settings?
