Default Gain Plug In | DSP Enabled

Hey APA,

Good afternoon. How are you? Hope all is well. I am looking for a gain that will allow me to record with the Pro Tools Carbon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have to ask......why? In 18 years of recording in Pro Tools, this has never been something I needed or have ever seen anyone use

Tough to say what the question is(especially as Carbon has preamps)

Been a long time since I’ve been on TDM/HD. Was/Is there a DSP version of the trim plugin?

You could try the Sonnox Oxford Inflator or a compressor with make-up gain or just use clip gain.

Hard to know what to reply given not sure what your trying to do.

Apologies for being 'that guy' but I've used Gain on inserts a good number of times.

Here's a couple of situations. Stereo track with multiple playlists for editing?
One channel is a bit hot (or cold). Add dual mono Trim plugin and adjust one side by a dB or two. One side needs phase flipping? Gain insert does the job.

Where there are multiple playlists it saves hassle being on an insert, at least until you have comped everything.

Another situation I have used Gain to add level or attenuate into the next plugin in the chain when it doesn't have the facility to trim the input.

Stephen

That's one I often use. Especially with certain SoundToys plugs. Devil-Loc sounds great on some things, but it can boost level by dozens of dB, and even the deluxe version has no output trim. Drives me crazy.
