Default PT 10 and "all" interfaces

Hello all.

Brand new to the forum.......
In looking to upgrade to PT 10, my major concern is compatability. Is it true that PT 10 can be used with all types of audio interfaces, e.g. anything MOTU, edirol, and others.... or is it still proprietary: digi002, 003, mbox, M-audio(M-powered), etc...
I also read that you need Windows 7, Windows vista will not work?

Thanks in advance

Chris

yes, you can use just about any interface now http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/pro-...dware-checker/

I'm using OSX but I do believe that it is correct that you need W7 over Vista

Yes pretty much any interface will work with PT 10, I am using a third party interface. You do need Windows 7 for it to run efficiently also.

Yes, you need Windows 7(Vista stinks anyway, so trust me...you won't miss it)

Just to clarify, Protools 10 will work with any ASIO compliant interface. There are sone older interfaces that do not comply to this standard or do not have an ASIO driver. It should also be noted that the original Mbox, Digi001 will not work (as stated by Avid). Some folks have also had issues getting those USB mics (designed for podcasts) to work but some do work.

Protools 10 for Windows will work in Windows 7 but not Windows Vista. A stated above, Vista was a crappy OS and you wouldn't want to use it for your DAW anyways. Most people pretty much jumped from Windows XP to Windows 7.
