Default Tascam US-1800

Does anyone know if the Tascam US-1800 will run well on Pro tools 10 with Windows 7 64bit. It says it is pro tools 9 compatible on the website, so I assume it will work with pro tools 10. I am looking for an affordable way to expand my I/O. Thanks, any information is helpful.

Thumbs up Re: Tascam US-1800

Yes it works fine. Ive had pro tools 10 since day of realease but my pro tools & the drivers of the interface are 32bit but if the website has 64bit drivers than it will work fine. Personally in my oppinion when it comes to quality ill be upgrading later. But it does the job. Great for zero latency monitoring. The digital spdif in does not have zero latency monitoring but all mic ins, instrument & line ins are. Also has 3 stereo outputs 4 including the digital spdif. I have one going to nearfields one to a sony home stereo for mix referencing & another one into my sampler of choice to sample directly out of the interface/computer.

If your low on funds I would recomend it its great. The premps are just usuable nothing special. Instrument jacks dont go to the full frequency which most guitarists like. But you could always use outboard DI's & Preamps. Let us know how you go.

Thanks for all the great information. Have you put this interface though any kind of stress test and have you recorded all inputs at once? I am planning on using the existing pre's along with some external preamps. Thanks again

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunatley no I havent as its in my home/bedroom studio the most I have tracked is 2 instrument ins (synthesizer), two line ins (Sampler) & two mics at once. Id be lucky to fit a kick drum in my work area let alone a kit or band. But a good place to ask this question is the tascam user forum which is apart of the home recording forum. They used to have there own forum but it was closed in 2003 & there was also a private one which has just closed in early 2012 due to the owner of the host had past away & the name was not renewed or so im told.

Good luck with it all.
