Pro Tools System preferences question
Can somebody explain what each of the pro tools system presences in the library/avid does? Like all of them?
I'm particulary interested to know: - which one keeps the favorite plug ins list, (sometimes it just disappears!) - which one already remembers what plug ins do I have? ( I have huge plug in list, so on the re-installation, pro tools usually crashes as it goes out of time to load all of the plug ins, and I have to split them in groups,... ) |

Re: Pro Tools System preferences question
PT Prefs
Many of us have used this free utility for many years, and it's still compatible and supported. It basically allows you to move different PT library files to the trash, and to backup and restore them. I have no link to a description of each of the different library files and what they contain. Maybe try the PT user guide.

You can easily test things like this yourself, and I'm not sure that knowing this really helps much. It would be nice to have a prefs migrator that could pull one specific thing (like the favorite list) from an old prefs file and insert in a new one. But I have zero expectation that would happen. |

Re: Pro Tools System preferences question
Thank You!
I red somewhere long time ago which preference is what, I can't find the description any more... Thank You Darryl, I'll most likely have to test myself... it is boring rebooting each time,... Anybody have a link to the preference app? I never used it, and I'm with pro tools since the beginning,... Kosta |

Re: Pro Tools System preferences question
Ben already gave you a link to info on PT Prefs first reply in this thread.
But you are on Windows, so PT Prefs won't help you. You can use Trasher. http://www.pro-tools-pc.us/category-s/1514.htm I gave you the mac file locations, you can find the similar ones on Windows. Please don't make people need to go looking though your stuff to work out what you are running on. |

PT Prefs (And there is no need to reboot, just quit PT - delete the prefs - and relaunch PT.)
