Default Unable to Post

I am unable to create a thread because of the following error message (I am logged on):

Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "http://duc.avid.com/newthread.php?" on this server.
Reference #18.2dfe19b8.1635986236.129ed108

What does it mean? Why am I getting this error?

Thank you for your help.

Hi, welcome to the community.

Nobody knows. It may be server side error, it may be browser error, it may be memory overflow, but it is totally random.

Hi Welcome to the buggy DUC.

It's an annoyingly frequent bug in this forum that has been going on for years. Sometimes you can work around this by making a change in the text of the post or splitting a post up into two shorter posts (even if they are not really long to start with). Avid needs to get this crap fixed.

I am not so sure it is something Avid can get fixed. Sometimes when I face this and send a message using Tapatalk it goes through no problem. But yes, it is annoying.

On Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H1, OS build 19043.1237, the Avid Community
does not work for Firefox 94.0.1 (64-bit)
does work for Chrome Version 95.0.4638.69 (Official Build) (64-bit)

All this is likely irrelevant, the problem seems to hit Windows PC and Macs running any OS version and any browser type, it hits iPads, iPhones etc. Modifying your post or just waiting and trying again seem to be the only workaround.

I suspect most folks who see that they tried another browser or another computer etc. and it worked there I suspect would find it also now worked on the system that had a problem to start with.

If you do find one specific browser that does have problems... try clearing the cache in that browser.

That is useful information hearing that it occurs on both Windows PC and Macs running any OS version and any browser type.

BTW, I had cleared the browser cache.

I am starting a student class which uses Pro Tools. I usually use Adobe products. The Adobe Community does not have these issues. This is not a good way to start my experience with Avid. Avid needs to fix this issue.

Unfortunately Avid and Adobe are not in the same Universe. Avid has 0.4% of the market cap of Adobe. But even with that... you'd hope they could get a user forum to work.

Darryls tip about splitting up a post is good. I also had success with the following method when I encounter this problem: I copy the text I'm trying to post, paste it into some very simple app, like a stickies or Textedit, and copy it back in the post page. I'm thinking this perhaps strips the text of invisible, illegal characters.

Another recommendation; This forum is full of useful info, but the search function sux. Here's what we do; using google, we add to the search word(s): site:duc.avid.com. This filters the search results to just this forum, and gives much better results.
(This works for any web domain/site btw.)
