Default Tell me about PTNT

Hi there.

I have done a search of messages. I have read the messages. I hope you all will give me the benefit of your wisdom without too much grief.

How is the PT running on NT? I will assume most of your comments will be positive but I would appreciate any "heads up" you can give me while I try to evaluate which platform to go with. I know the issue with Plug-Ins, some of the really popular ones are not available. What about other stuff? Like difficulty getting hardware configurations to work or other significant problems getting the system ready for serious day-to-day studio work?

Thanks so much.

Hello
If the plugins which you can get right now are enough for you, go and get it.
If you are more familiar wit NT than with MAC OS, go and get it.
If you can assemble a much cheaper PC by yourself, go and get it.
To my hardware: DBL 100 IWILL with U2W SCSI on board (12 meters SCSI cable) 450 Mhz P2, 256 Mb ram, Matrox G400 with 2 monitor outs, IBM system and audio drives (4 x 35 Gb NTFS DMVS)PT Mix plus, Plextor CD writer and exabyte eliant tape drive.
Since version 5 no hang at all. It`s very reliable and what`s more important: I make money with it.
Go and get it.

Regards Wolfgang

Hi,
After you get the right motherboard.
no probs. Runs rock solid.
People have had problems with NTFS. Mean't to be fixed in 5.01. Seems there could be another prob see other thread. I run FAT disks. Although I loose 2gig of my 18gig drive.
3rd party support will hopefully pick up?

Waves plugs seem to cause a few probs loading and reactivating.

Recorded our set last week.
50-60 minutes 16 tracks no prob.
Never would of done that with VST.

I been using PTNT for over a year, I came from VST, and I will never go back.
I love my PTNT. No crashes at all.
All major plugin companies support NT.

Just one thing: if you are doing Video, It does not support QuickTime.

Good Luck
Camilo.
