192 I/O and PCIe cards, compatibility
Hi Everyone, I’m new! Hello to all!
I currently have a working older system: Hackintosh, older PCI cards HD3, running Protools 8 I just built a new very powerful PC, it has PCIe slots. I purchased the HD PCIe Core card and Accel card from Ebay. When I switch the 192’s special cable from the older PCI core card to the newer PCIe core card, I get the error: “Unable to locate hardware”. Is there compatibility issue with older 192 I/O, to newer PCIe cards? Thanks to all!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: 192 I/O and PCIe cards, compatibility
Hi, welcome to the community.
There is no difference. Also no support for your Hackintosh. I recommend you first try DigiTest and tell us what it says.

Re: 192 I/O and PCIe cards, compatibility
Hi Janne,
thanks for your reply! The Hackintosh is working fine, but I understand the conflict, no problem! for the DigiTest, is it a program i need to download or a weblink that performs the test? I appreciate your help! thanks, Marco |

Re: 192 I/O and PCIe cards, compatibility
What exact version of Pro Tools software and OS are you running on the new PC? Windows 10 probably will not work at all and any version of Pro Tools from 11 on up is not going to work with the old cards

Re: 192 I/O and PCIe cards, compatibility
hi Dave,
great points.. so, the computer has Windows 10 professional, and ProTools 10. So, which operating system would work best with Protools 10. unrelated question: if I get a Magma chassis for the HD cards, should I go with the thunderbolt connection or the older PCIe card that plugs into one slot ? Since these cards are HD PCIe (but not the latest HDX type) I wonder if the older Magma makes more sense. thanks for help, Marco |
