BFD Digital Feedback Sound?
Hello, About 20 min into a session where I am using BFD to program drums I get this really loud digital sounding distortion that comes out of nowhere. The only thing I can do is close the session then re open it again. I can get about another 20 min b4 it happens again. What could b causing this? I am on a G5 2.5 Pt HD3 and the latest version of BFD...any ideas? Thanks in advance, B

Re: BFD Digital Feedback Sound?
Hi,
How many tracks of BFD are you running? if you have all the bleed tracks set to on then you can be streaming 30-40 or even more audio streams from the hard drive that has the BFD data!! is your hard drive up to it! is your BFD data on an internal drive? and is this the sane drive that streams your session audio? maybe you're just streaming too much from 1 drive! Have you got BFD set to load into ram or to stream from disk? this is the only feature that is a suspect for me with BFD! i not quite sure if this works right or not, even when i have it set to stream it still seems like it is loading the sounds to ram! anyway this is something to look at and try maybe!! You could also reduce the layers and set to 16 bit in the BFD prefs to get more performance from BFD. Chris

Re: BFD Digital Feedback Sound?
I have seen this many times and it is always because of BFD's specific requirements not being meet
1.) is BFD needs a dedicated drive solely for BFD ( its in the manual ) 2.) is not enough memory . ( open activity monitor in the utilities folder and look at unused memory when BFD is open and kit loaded ) there should be min of 1 gig leftover 3.) load KIT into memory if you can 4.) if you dont have enough memory try to load at 16-bit FWIW..BFD runs great if it meets drive and memory needed but I have argued with users about this till I have got it running smoothly a dozen times it also states in the BFD guide that BFD will stream 10Mbs when used (( and that is the equivalent of a 64 track 48k pro tools session inside of a pro tools session ))
