The TDM Flex Cable Is Not Connected Correctly PT9
Hi I went to fire up my Pro Tools System this evening and got this message when i went to open Pro Tools.
I just used the system 2 days ago and everything was fine. Running a Mac 8 core OSX 10.8 Pro Tools HD9 with 1 Core Card and 2 Accel Cards I opened up the computer and reseated the Flex Cables and it didn't seem to fix the problem. Any ideas what could be the problem all of the sudden? Thanks, Russell |

Clean the connectors with industrial alcohol (any ethanol 85% vol)

I think that is just overpriced ethanol. Whatever alcohol you have cleans contacts. If some factory creates pure 100% ethanol in lab conditions, it will be 85% the second you open the bottle. Cannot beat the laws of physics.

Re: The TDM Flex Cable Is Not Connected Correctly PT9
I do agree with that . I always keep a bottle of the 91 percent alcohol around.
I was just thinking how hard it might be to get in there to clean all the contact but I guess I could do it with a Q tip . Do I also need to remove the cards and clean the contacts on those as well ? I sure do appreciate this website. I don't post much and hadn't logged in in a while but there are so many people on here with much more of a Tech style of interest than me. I can't even say thanks enough for the willingness to help and share. |

Re: The TDM Flex Cable Is Not Connected Correctly PT9
The flex cables are easy. you can let the connector soak in alcohol when you are on a coffee break and then have a good excuse for another coffee break for cleaning the other end.
HDX card is more tricky. First of all you should take it off your computer/chassis so there is absolutely no current anywhere. Then you need to use some kind of Topz stick soaked in alcohol to clean the connector. Do this in the evening so it can dry while you sleep and put it back in the morning.
