Default Digi 001 discontinued?!

I got an email the other day from a guy that was selling me his 001 for $400. It turnd out that he decided to turn arround and sell it to someone else after we had an agreement, but thats life. Anyway, he told me that the last shipment of 001s was being made to stores and that they wouldn't be sold anymore. Has anyone else heard about this? I'm assuming that this would drop the price! Also a feew weeks ago I read in a thread somewhere thatsomeone saw 001s in their local guitar center for $359! If thats true, pick me up one!

I suspected that might happen with the introduction of the 002 rack.

Too bad - the lowest latency on all other LE systems is 256 samples, which IMHO is not acceptable for tracking.

Thanks to the 002R, the 001 should be extinct. Two similar platforms add confusion to consumers. Not to mention the 'latest and greatest' technology advantage of the 002R over the 001. I've had my 001 for many years and it has served me well for the money. But it seems, with eventual (and inevitable) support dwindling for 001 (ask the Tool Box/AudioMedia 3 guys how much that has been), it's time to move on.

Actually the MBox is the weak link with is USB design and short falls.
A Firewire Mbox would make a MIDI Mbox a simple reality and more of an all in one laptop solution.

MIchaelK - Simply put, new design, new converters (they are not the same as the 001), newer components, & obviously a firewire interface (which means cleaner and quiter operation over the PCI design) and 2 more mic pre's. Something had to give. The 001 wasn't ment to last forver. Latency will always be, until (maybe) 64 bit high powered CPU's arrive, an issue with a native system. I don't track on my 001 for this reason. The 002R, and eventually PTLE in full, will run 96K sessions. So it will have the potential to sound better in time. The 001 will never sound any better than than it is.

I thought the Digi002 offered even lower latency than the digi001 ?

64 samples instead of 128 as the lowest setting.

I have been using my 002r for a few days now. Not only did it work out of the box(unlike 001) the A/D Conversion and new Pre's blow the 001 out of the water!!! The quality is totally different. The retail price is so reasonable! I have been waiting a long time for this product and I for one am happy with my purchase.

Lets just get that 6.1 upgrade out digi!!!!!

all of you guys who are embracing your 001 and dissing the 002 make sure you dont forget to blow out your candles before you go to bed. Maybe keep one lit so you can find the outhouse for that midnight dump.
Give my regards to the fine folks in walnut grove while your at it.

sorry so harsh couldnt help it

002r rules

Peace
