The Aphex 230 Voice Channel would be a good one to look at.

Well, what kind of quality are you expecting and what is your budget exactly? What mic are you using? What will you be recording with it? What other gear do you have to use in conjunction? These must be addressed before a recommendation can even be made or considered.

"Well, what kind of quality are you expecting and what is your budget exactly?"
Best possible , cheapest possible !

"What mic are you using?"
Not got one yet , looking at a Sontronics STC2 .

"What will you be recording with it?"
Voice and instruments .

"What other gear do you have to use in conjunction?"
Nothing at present !

Right , I'll explain ...

I work in a University supporting Mac Pros with PT LE. ( Focusrite , Lexicon outboard)
I've was into music tech years ago, but never took it any further than "arseing about" , I guess you'd say .
Since we started this course last year , my enthusiasm has returned and I'm building a "studio" in my spare bedroom.
I don't need ( can't afford) professional results .( I can always pop into work if needed )
I looked at the Samson , all cool other than it only does 48 and 96KHz , I was aiming for 44K !
I've been recommended dBX 360 http://www.dbxpro.com/386/386.php , but money's tight !

As I'm an Electronics Engineer , I'm looking to build myself some outboard ( comp/lim etc)
This isn't a commercial facility , doesn't need best in the world gear , it's just a hobby , so ideally I need to minimise my outlay .

I think that about covers it !
Oh , my setup at home is PC , MBox 2 Pro , Alice mixer , prodipe monitors , errr , that's about it at the moment !

Cheers for the replies !

If anyones interested , I popped for one of these http://www.edirol.net/products/en/M-10DX/

I've only given it a brief test and seems to work fine.
( I've actually got it running over 20 metres on SPDIF , which is against the rules , but seems stable )

I know it's not pro quality , but it does the job!

*edit ... just noticed , I've put this in the Mac section when I've got a PC at home , Doh !
