Re: Can I Speed Up A Bounce?
The only situation I have been about to speed up a bounce is in a mastering only session with no automation. First, I will audiosuite any plugins I would use and then "Export" the stereo track to be stereo interleaved. But after doing all of this processing, I end up wandering, "Did I really save any time?"
Digi: Please give us the Non-Realtime bounce option!

Re: Can I Speed Up A Bounce?
In the Audio bin there is a drop-down menu that allows you to "Export Regions as Files". (I don't know if this is the same "Export" command MentalMusic is talking about.)
I don't use a lot of effects for my work--exporting "as files" works well for a one- or two-track piece. That zips thru stuff at lightning speed, but probably isn't any help with a multi-track mix. yr pal Deirdre

Re: Can I Speed Up A Bounce?
This issue has kept me from upgrading my 4.3, beige G3, OS 8.6 setup for years. If you're mastering stereo tracks, i.e., for a radio show, the real time bouncing is deadly. However, the export command is a good workaround if you run any plugin processing beforehand. If you have fades you need to "burn in", use the consolidate command under the edit menu first. The nice thing is that you can select all the regions of your stereo pair at that point and export them all at the same time.
Also nice is there there are keyboard shortcuts for consolidate (shift opt 3) and export (cmd shift k), unlike the bounce command which requires mousework. This alone saves me a significant amount of production time. I have just worked this out by gathering tips from these forums, so I cannot refute the possibility of glitches that Burton referred to. I'm trying it out to see if I might finally be able to move on from 4.3, which is still my production machine. Lots of listening to be done before making the move. |

Re: Can I Speed Up A Bounce?
Hmm, you guys must be charging by the session and not by the hour.
I too often work on hour long plus radio programs, but I love the real-time bounce because I get to charge for a whole extra hour (sometimes more) while I sit and do nothing! It's one of my favorite features |

Re: Can I Speed Up A Bounce?
If you're editing without using any automation, I find the quickest workaround is to duplicate your mix, then do a 'consolidate selection' across all your edits and viola youre left with a single left & right track, dual import into peak or similar you've got a single file.
The reason I say duplicate you mix first is so that if you want to go back andmake edits you can - you've stil got useful session data that you had before you did the consolidate... Tel |

Re: Can I Speed Up A Bounce?
There's several workarounds, but when it all comes down to it, there's no time saved unfortunately.

Re: Can I Speed Up A Bounce?
Just export your tracks to Digital Performer -- it has a really fast Bounce function. Of course that means you'd also have to mix in DP, but that's actrually pretty nice too. So's the MIDI sequencing...and the price tag.

Re: Can I Speed Up A Bounce?
Aren't the "bounce Options" Better--Best--Tweakhead different speeds?
Lower quality means faster? Maybe the faster speeds would be good enough quality? For "Dialog" radio/Children shows>??? Huh??
