Re: Note: Windows 8 is not supported with Pro Tools HD 11.0 at this time
I didn't really get the answer I was looking for...
Does the PT11+Native card system work stable on Windows 8 64? It IS listed as unsupported for some reason even though PT11 Non HD IS supported. I am talking stable with 16 tracks of wavs on the way in... RE: under HEAVY load. Is there a list of what NOT to do if there is a workaround? Is there a link to Win 8 optimizations including hardware settings for HDDs and SDD and all? Lets get this straight: when I mean PT 11 Native HD I mean the Avid CARD. Some folks around here are saying that they are on PT Native but are running a 3rd party Firewire type system like an RME FF 800 ect. This would be supported under Win 8. Guitardom mentioned something about PT10 NOT being compatible with Win 8 period...hmm time go look at the specs again. To be clear - I do not really need to run PT10 at all, just PT11 HD Native card with avid 16x16 I/O.. Thanks all, EOE

Re: Note: Windows 8 is not supported with Pro Tools HD 11.0 at this time
OK - I found the window 8 optimizations page in the Avid Support website, too bad there is NO search results for that link in the DUC..
Guitardom did say his PT Native Card system worked on Win 8 but I need others to chime in with their thumbs up as well. Check out his mention of multiple boots and I get the feeling not everything plays nice.. Please chime in onlookers! BTW my signature changed when I did my hardware upgrade which was after I started the post but the new sig wound up on the first post.. EOE

Re: Note: Windows 8 is not supported with Pro Tools HD 11.0 at this time
I'm considering upgrading to HD and am very interested in this seemingly paradoxical spec as well. Pro Tools 11 is "optimized for Windows 8," yet Pro Tools 11 HD isn't qualified at all? Bizarre. Good to hear there has been at least some success already. I went straight from XP to W8 and have no desire to mess with W7.
By the way, I've been running PT10 on Windows 8 for months, and it's absolutely rock solid in spite of its supposed non-compatibility. All plugins working, predictable loading, etc. Haven't installed 11 yet, but I will the day UAD releases AAX. |
