Default 2022.12 mp3 import not working
Importing mp3's is extremely slow and ultimately fails. I have to use other pieces of software to convert mp3 files. I didn't see others having this issue...am I the only one?

Monterey 12.6
ProTools Studio Edition 2022.12

File a ticket and link to this thread. That usually gets things fixed. I already did but the more the better.

That's about the only value of the links. They all have the same disappointing ending - no fix.

With 2022.12, dragging and dropping an mp3 into a session results in a distorted, choppy and unintelligible mess. I have to shoot everything through Audio Converter Pro into a WAV for it to glide into 2022.12.

I have started a ticket, and will report any response.

I'll need to find specific documents but I am pretty sure MP3 import's are not supported as of now. Only on exports. I thought I saw this listed on a resource article.

Thanks. That would be very weird for me. I’ve been dragging and dropping mp3s into sessions for over a decade until 2022.12 with no problem at all.

The only files I couldn’t drag in were .flac files, but using those is very rare.

It’s the Bounce to MP3 option that is not supported on 2022.12 running natively on a Silicon Mac.

Importing MP3’s should not be an issue, in theory, but it is unfortunately.

I think I was mistaking MP3 for the M4a import issue. My fault! Which I know is now supported.
