My Pro Tools sessions that I have been able to load and edit forever have not been loading since I upgraded to OS X Yosemite. When I attempt to load a session I just get the pinwheel that goes forever. I am almost certain that this issue is linked to the Yosemite upgrade.
I was able to open the sessions with my plugins inactive (shift + click on session). But as soon as I started making the plugins active the pinwheel came back. Any thoughts? I have 10 GB ram, MacBook Pro, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 Any suggestions would be greatly, greatly appreciated! |

Can we assume that you DIDN"T clone your system drive prior the upgrade?
if this is the case, your best option(and this is a general rule when upgrading OS or PT) is to clone the system drive, then wipe it and do a fresh install of EVERYTHING, OS, PT and all plugs making sure to avoid installing any non audio related apps etc on your audio system drive, less clutter tends to ensure a greater chance of hassle free operation. In the first instance, check all your 3rd party plugs are current and qualified for Yosemite, this is likely where most of your problems lie. Good Luck. |

Are these Avid plug-ins or third party plug-ins? If they are third party plug-ins do you have the latest versions? If you start an empty session and then load the same plug-ins, do you get the SWOD?

In addition to the above when you installed Yosemite was it on a clean system drive or partition? Installing over an existing OSX install isn't a good thing despite what Apple says. And if you used Migration Assassin to move PT over that's a huge no-no. |

That's only a no-no for apps. For documents, movies, music, and photos, it's fine. That is how I use Migration Assistant, and I have yet to have it assassinate any of the systems I maintain when it is used for those files.
