Does this happen in standalone and also when running Pro Tools?

Can you hear audio even though the light won't go off?

Also post your system info including software versions etc. it helps Digi and the rest of the gang here when trying to help.

Sounds like the power harness issue to me. Does it also make clicking sounds? Will Protools open or does it say hardware not found? Reseating the harness is simple on the rack version. Just remove the top cover. The PSU is on the right side(with front facing toward you). Follow the wire bundles to 3 white plastic/nylon connectors. Use a small screwdriver to lift the locking tab and pull/reseat each connector 5-6 times to scrape thru the oxidation on the pins. Odds are better than 50/50 that you will be back up and woring.

I'm sure this happened to every person that bought an 002R (MYSELF INCLUDED). albee1952's solution will work. Amazingly, I don't even keep the screws on the top of my unit any more, just so I can open it on a regular basis.

Also..... follow the instructions above like was posted but also go to Radio Shack or similar electronics store and buy some Dexoit or Pro Gold (contact cleaner) and clean the contacts with it with a cotton q-tip. It will help insure a better connection.

cheers

Good advice but don't spray Pro Gold on the parts(it can raise hell). Instead, spray it on foam swaps(like for cleaning VCR heads) and wipe onto the pins.
