Default Re: 2 DIGI001 on same PC?

Hi All,

Yeah, sometimes I regret my Digi purchase--but the other message boards that have seen are more cluttered with people needing help with their MOTU's or Delta 1010's or (insert other product here). I generally feel that this is par for the course when it comes to computers. So overall I am very happy with the Digi.

The perfect home DAW:

1. 8 inputs / 8 outputs.
2. Stackable up to limits of computer.
3. Decent mic pres on each input.
4. All A/D's external to computer.
5. Connects to PCI via fiber only. (for long runs)
6. Under $1000 per box.
7. Standardized API / drivers / plug-ins.
8. Rock solid operation.

Anyway, that is my wish list. And the digi scores pretty well.

Just my 2$ worth,

John Dells.

naked,

Your problem (the need for more inputs) is easily solved with the addition of another eight input A/D device (plugs into the ADAT interface on the 001 card). In the 001 video they used a piece from Presonus. Presonus has a newer one called the Digimax with 8 pre-amps included (so you don't need a mixer - you plug the mikes into the Digimax).

There are other low cost A/D devices out there; some with pre's and some without. You can actually get 18 inputs into PTLE by using something like the Digimax into the ADAT interface and another A/D device plugged into the S/PDIF input.

Thanks B. Ray.

What is this video you speak of? And that kind of goes to the question I was trying to ask earlier. How does one go about setting up the track inputs for the additional ins? Anyone know whether Logic would be able to handle these additional ins as well?

I was just on Presonus' web page and they have just a brief mention of the connectivity to an 001. Anyone know a resource that explains in detail how these units would work together and how Pro Tools would split in incoming additional 8 channels into separate tracks? Again - maybe I'm not asking my questions right...

18 inputs, yes but under a condition s/pdif source is sample synced to 001 or ADAT (which is digital clock master)
