Default how to enable HEAT

I just downloaded the Heat 10.2 installer because I wanted to give it a try.
I am on pro tools HD 12.6.0 but I can't find where to enable HEAT. The manual seems to be referring to old versions of pro tools and the installer doesn't come with a read me... any ideas?

Hhmm, I have a feeling it comes included with PT 6 x…
Search it in the PT ref guide.

You can usually find the most recent version of Heat hiding in a folder of your Pro Tools installation file that you have downloaded from Avid. I get the impression Heat 10.2 may be a version for Protools HD 10.

You will also need an iLok license, either a complete license or a demo license to use Heat. From there, you activated it using one of the dropdown menus on the application task bar at the top of the screen. From memory, it is hiding in the same dropdown menu as disabling/enabling delay compensation.

HEAT isn't installed separately since 11.0 was released. I just cleaned up the HEAT KB to clarify this.

Interesting... I just downloaded the Heat 10.2 installer from Avid.com and that was the most recent number I saw...
either way, even after reading the Heat KB, I still don't know how to activate it... I requested a demo license and got one, but I don't see Heat anywhere or even a button to enable it in the preferences...

You should remove HEAT 10.2.

Check out Chapter 46 (pg 963) in the PT 12.6 Ref Guide for info about using HEAT.

Also... I see you downloaded the HEAT license to your iLok account but it shows you haven't activated it to your iLok (that contains the HD license bundle) yet.

I've removed the plugin.
Now I am looking at the PT 12.6 reference guide and it says:

Quote:
To enable (or disable) HEAT in a session, do one of
the following:
 Select (or deselect) Options > Activate HEAT.
...but I don't see this option anywhere!!!!
Quote:
 Select (or deselect) the HEAT On/Off button in
the Mix window in HEAT view.
You can also enable the Enable HEAT in New Sessions
option in the Pro Tools Preferences to have
HEAT automatically enabled for all new sessions.
To enable (or disable) HEAT for new sessions:
1 Choose Setup > Preferences.
2 Click the Processing tab.
3 In the DSP Management section, select (or deselect)
the Enable HEAT in New Sessions option.
...but here is no DSP Management section!!!
Quote:
4 Click OK.

Looks like we were posting at the same time... you need to activate the HEAT license to your iLok.

oh that's the missing link!
ok thanks...
last question: do the 30 days start from when I activate the demo license or from when I requested the demo?
