Default weird region behavior

After recording, I'm noticing:

inability to use standard trimmer to edit regions

regions that have been deleted or recorded over persist in a track, sometimes "hiding" under a take and screwing up attempts to edit a desired take

regions mystriously dissappearing completely from a track, leaving what appears to be a blank track, yet still playing back!

keeper takes not showing up but rather being superceded by previous outtakes seemingly at random

I've worked PT very hard and successfully for about eight years now. Is there some new protocol with regard to regions in v 7.3 that I'm missing? ( I'm still getting these issues in 7.3.1!)

Help,
Jerry
