Default Studio upgrade

I am going to be upgrading my HD3 system. I currently have 2 192's w/16 channels of analog input per each 192. I am upgrading to another 16 channels. Is the apogee a16x better than a 192? I have heard that the a/d conversion is better. Does the apogee interface well with PT and other 192's? Since I rarely record at 192khz, is a 96 worth it?

My pre's are a combination of c24 focusrite and presonus digimax. In my opinion the digimax wins out between these two. Are focusrite octopre's worth getting to integrate in?

Thanks in advance,

Default Re: Studio upgrade

If your only pres are the C24s and Digimax, the difference between a 192 and an a16x will be negligible. The pres are the weak link in that scenario. I'd say spend the cash on better mic pres.

You need more than 32 inputs at a time? That's some big recording sessions!
