Default Protools M-Powered 7 Vs. Adobe Audition

I am currently an Audition user basically because that program doesnt require certain supported hardware. I recently bought a FireWire 410 for basic recording. I downloaded a trial version of M-powered 7, and it seems that Protools is totally different than other DAWs. The main downfall i see compared to Audition is that there are no effects presets, which i use all the time as a basis when i edit in Audition. Can anyone else give me an opinion of their pros and cons of Audition vs. ProTools?

That depends on what effects you are using. I'm not sure what comes with the Demo, as I haven't ever tried it, but many of the stock effects in Pro Tools have presets, and almost all of the third party ones (waves, IKMultimedia, elemental audio, antares, etc etc) have presets built in as well.

It sounds to me like you just glossed over Pro Tools and it's use, without really learning how it works, which would really help. All of the manuals are available free online.

Here's some advice I'd like to give you though; If you like Audition, and are comfortable with Audition, use Audition. If it works for you, go with it.

It is really not the same as PTL -- I think learning PTL is worth while especially at these prices. Also if you really want to get familiar with some pro-methods these guys often use PT, for example DVD training and books, etc. So it is like double shooting -- hopefully you can get close to the target.
