Default Can someone recomend a good C.D burner?

I am about to take the final plunge and get a cd burner for my G4 (yikes) 400 and digi 001 setup. Can you tell me what you guys are using out there , and as usual money is a factor.
Thanks, Jag

I have a Yamaha CRW6416S in a Glyph housing. I have no problems burning CDs that work in any player.

With a G-4 I would stay clear of the 8/2/20. Steve R. (storage guru) hasn't yet posted a fix for MLCD and this model's current firmware.

Why not the 820? It is cheaper. Who has time to reformat and then re-record anyway? Jag-what card? Adaptec 2930u???

i have a G4 450 sawtooth, adaptec 2930u scsi card, and the plextor 8/2/20. MLCD doesn't concern me because i don't use it. toast and jam work wonderfully. i bought a plextor because i heard nothing but good things about them. they have a 4 meg buffer (not sure about yamaha's). i also have a zip 100 in my scsi chain with no problems.

thats why you can use both kinds of discs in a CD-RW.

? For Slinky,

Why do you need both Toast and Jam? I was under the imppression that Jam was Toast's "big brother" so to speak. Do I need to have both of them when I get a CD burner? ( I am not ready to buy one just yet. Hopefully there will be some good Firewire burners out by the time I have money to buy something.)

Thanks,
chudlo

toast does both audio and data...jam just does audio. toast does not allow you to edit PQ subcode (space between songs, markers, index...etc.) and jam will. jam is kinda like Master List. toast will let you back up files and jam won't. get it?
