We have a new collections of beautiful steam whistles over at Rabbit Ears Audio.

Although steam whistles emerged in the mid-19th century as a warning device, they quickly became the rail industry’s iconic sound. Many railways even cast their own whistles, branding the sound of their particular train line. REA_017 features a variety of whistle types from North America including 3-chime, 6-chime, and single note hooters (there is even a bonus whistle from China).

The whistles were recorded while the steam engine was stationary with no electrical system running. This means the whistle blows are completely isolated from any other train noise. REA_017 provides pure steam and the flexibility to place whistles wherever you need them.

The collection is a whopping 8GB and 527 files. Each take was recorded from multiple microphone perspectives at 24/192.

TONSTURM Massive Explosions offers the purest, most powerful and punchy sounding explosion SFX available.

TONSTURM Massive Explosions features breath taking recordings of 60 massive steal and rock bursting explosions. These lethal detonations were recorded at a restricted military trainings area in a beautiful sounding abandoned valley in southern Germany. In collaboration with our blaster experts we organized over two hundred and sixty pounds of various heavy explosive substances. To capture each blast as detailed as possible everything was recorded with up to 19 different microphone channels. (From mono up to discrete 5.0 surround.)

Over 260 pounds of explosives were detonated for this recording session. These following explosives are featured in this library: TNT, PETN, ANFO, RDX, Semtex, Black Powder, Flash Powder, Det Cord, Dynamite, Gas Cartridges, Isopropanol, an Anti-Tank Mine, and even more….

Hey Everybody,

Our newest library NYC Ambisonics was released today! We recorded ambiences all over New York City with a SoundField microphone, and it sounds incredible.

NYC Ambisonics – Pro Sound Effects

Really excited about this one as it is our first library in the Ambisonics format. This format allows you to control the direction and polar pattern of "virtual microphones" with the included SurroundZone2 software from TSL (AAX, VST, AU). You can decode the "B-format" versions to mono, stereo, 5.1, 7.1, and beyond. Very useful for controlling the width and tweaking to taste.

In addition to the B-format (quad) files, we've also included stereo renderings of the entire library in case you'd prefer to use the sounds right away without any processing. There are 53 recordings that come in just under 7 hours (over 40GB).

This library is the result of a total of ten recording sessions with three specific UAVs:
a DJI Phantom 3 Pro, an FPV 250 racing quad and a tiny CX10 toy quadcopter.

ascent, descent and overhead perspectives as well as landing are all covered
in this library, as well as onboard DJI P3.
