Default Bounce corruption

I am having a weird problem Digi 001 with Mac G4 Os9.2

When i bounce down even though my files sound ok in Digi001 they get slightly distorted when played back as Wav, Mp3 etc

The common factor is that Im using waves plug ins but Ive reinstalled them + Pro Tools LE

Digitest passes card ok.

Im wondering if the plug ins are the key ? it does the distortion with all makes though not just the Waves ones

Its driving me mad .

Any ideas ? Thanks for your time.

Which application are you using to play back the bounced files?

If you bring the bounced files back into a Pro Tools session, do they sound fine or are they distorted there as well?

Im using Itunes or quicktime to replay the bounced items.

If i import the audio back in it is distorted yes.

This seems to be related to bouncing mono summed but it doesnt happen on my other Digi001 system ( I have two systems)

Thanks for replying..any ideas where i go from here ?

Thanks for any help its really appreciated very Much

Are u bouncing mono summed?
I don't remember if PT has an option for -3 dB when bouncing to mono summed audio files and I don[t have it in front of me now. If you are bouncing mono summed there´s a good chance you might get a distorted result if your original master fader was near clipping.

Thanks for post.
Yes I am bouncing mono summed and what you say sounds very accurate..only worry is why my other Pro Tools system ( almost identical set up ) in the Voice over studio doesnt do this..I often bounce a file to mono there and this doesnt seem to occur.

Is there a setting that Im missing somewhere ?

Appreciate your time and trouble thank you Alex

What happens if you reduce the gain on the main fader about 3db or so and try the bounce again?

The distortion goes away. But im still confused as to why my other Digi 001 system doesnt do this ?

Is it just a rule of thumb that you bounce summed with a 3db reduction , because Ive never done that before..it may be that I have just not noticed etc.

Thanks again

Martin
