Default Velvet & Strike: Content Not Found error

I have searched the forum on this, but haven't really found anything, yet this seems like it must've happened before! Sorry if this is an "old" request, but I'm stumped . . .

I recently installed my new MBox2 Pro and PTLE 8, and was just in the process of installing all the VI's, including the Virtual Instrument Box Set. Structure/Goliath and Hybrid are working fine, but both Velvet and Strke are giving me problems.

First, I was getting the "Yellow" GUI with both of them, but I did the update to 1.0.2 on both, and it went away. But now, both say "Content Not Found. Please exit Pro Tools & check installation". I verified that the ".big" files are located where I believe they should be:
1) Strike is under /applications/digidesign/strike/mixes
2) Velvet is under /applications/digidesign/velvet

Strike has 3 ".big" files, and Velvet has 1. I also double-clicked on the "change content location" applet in each of their folders (or whatever it's called), which I gather is designed to fix similar problems (?). It merely comes up with a dialog that shows the directory path I've just stated, and an "OK" button, with no method of browsing or otherwise changing anything.

So . . . how do I fix this? The only avenue I haven't tried is a complete uninstall and reinstall. I have a feeling this wouldn't help, but I don't know. I tried a reinstall-only for Velvet (without removing the older install) and it completed normally, but I don't know if it did anything (?).

I'm hoping someone has already encountered and fixed this, and can share the answer. . .

Thanks,
Terry

Go to the blog and search using 'issues'

Thanks, Russ.

I see a couple of things out there to try. I'll let you guys know. In the meantime, if anyone else wants to chime in, great.

Russ,
I tried the two basic things I found on the blog site:
1) The "Set Content Location" applet (for both Velvet & Strike), and
2) the Strike "Preference File Installer"

Neither of these were any help, I'm afraid. The VI's appear in PTLE 8 but they make no sound, and the error message comes up saying, essentially, content not found.

I even tried a full delete and reinstall of Velvet, but no luck. I'm just choosing the default location for files, so I don't know what could be wrong. The "big" files *are* located where they should be (in the "Strike" and "Velvet" folders, under Digidesign).

Somebody, please help!

Hey man.

I had EXACTLY the same issue yesterday when I tried to install Strike.

I tried EVERYTHING and nothing worked. I kept getting the 'Content Not Found error'.

Solution? = Reinstall. Works perfect now.

You're on a Mac hopefully. Here's what I did.

1. Go to HD/Library/Receipts/ and delete Strike Content 1 Setup.pkg & Strike Content 2 Setup.pkg & any other Strike .pkg's

2. Empty Trash

3. Run the Strike DVD installers 1 & 2 again

4. Download and install the strike_updater_v102_51082.dmg (for Strike to work on Leopard)

5. Trash Digi Prefs

6. Open PT8 and enjoy (hopefully)

That's what I did :)

Thanks.

I don't see any receipts in Library for Strike (or Velvet), unfortunately.

I think I'll try a reinstall of Strike, although the reinstall of Velvet didn't help. It's weird because my other plugs (Structure, Hybrid, etc.) work just fine.

The ".big" files are definitely in the right folder, but PT can't seem to "see" them or something.

I appreciate the help. I'll try a reinstall.

In the meantime, anybody else have an idea??

Thanks,
Terry

Then it probably didn't install properly first time around.

Well, I dragged the Strike folder (and all subfolders) to the trash, emptied the trash, and then did a complete reinstall. The problem is still there!

The install is kind of confusing, so I wonder if somehow I'm missing a step or something. When I insert the DVD #1, there is something called Strike Install, but also a bunch of other stuff. Hopefully by running that single executable, it seems to run everything else, but . . .? It asked for DVD 2 at one point, and then said it was running install #2. I *think* everything is running, but I don't know, I guess.

I'm no newbie, but I feel very helpless here . . .

It occurs to me that there may be some kind of "settings" or "permissions" thing going on.

What did you mean by "trash Digi Prefs"?

Also, there was some mention in the Answerbase about going into Mac Disk Utilities and clearing/removing a permissions setting. I don't know anything about this (?).

I'm stuck . . .

Not likely if you're able to install other software and it works.
