Default disappearing audio drive???

I have an asus k8v deluxe motherboard, with an amd athlon 64 3ghz. I have 2 drives. both western digital 8mb cache ones... one is 40gb the other is 120gb. the 120gb is my audio drive, and sometimes when I boot up my computer, it isn't "there". windows doesn't know it's there. then I reboot and it's back. anyone know what's up with this?

I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Check your connections..My firewire drive does the same thing once in awhile, and if I jiggle the cable it comes back.

he didn't say it was a f/w drive. but... good advice anyway. check the connections and the jumpering. NEVER jumper to cable select.

if both drives are on the same ribbon, make sure the system drive is jumpered as master AND connected to the end of the cable; and jumper the audio drive as slave and connect it to the middle connecter on the ribbon. if the drives are on separate cables, make sure the audio drive is jumpered master and connected to the end of cable.

i believe WD drives also have a jumper setting for Single Drive. don't use this unless the above recommendations fail, and even if you do jumper it Single, you still must connect it to the end of the ribbon.
