Slave HD to SMPTE

Hi guys, I need a tip.

I just got a scoring gig in, and they are going to send me the whole "VHS w/ SMPTE on one track/dialogue on the other" deal.
The pre-pro has been done in ProTools, so that has to be my platform.
I have a Unitor 8, and i can't seem to make the Unitor 8 convert the incoming SMPTE to MTC and route it to PT. No way.

I had the same problem last time and i had to switch to Logic, which instantly slaved to SMPTE w/ the exact same set-up.

I don't need to be sample accurate, it's not that kind of a crazy deal, I just need Protools to start when the code shows-up, that's it, drift is ok, these are super short cues.

Any ideas on how to make my set-up behave?
Any idea on a cheap fix maybe?

Unitor manual is useless and so is eMagic's tech support.

i have an old MOTU pocket express and it will sync with smpte but it takes around 14 seconds....be patient....although this, sucks ass...

i am assuming you have the Unitor setup properly in the periphrial's menu....generic reader....

do you have a way to use midi timecode?

if you do, PT will lock up very fast with that...no conversion to smpte i assume

if i think of anything else that will help i will post again
