Default 002r 3 clicks and not connecting

I just bought a used 002r from someone. I brought my MacBook pro with me and also brought a FireWire 400 to 800 cable. I connected the 002r but it didn't connect. I thought it was due to not having drivers so I downloaded the 002 drivers from avid's site and launch recycle (because I had a problem with pt 10 and lion). It looked like it connected however when I got back to my main computer (macpro) it won't connect. I found a FireWire 400 cable but it doesn't connect. It also doesn't connect to my laptop either. Please someone tell me that I'm doin something wrong.

I turn it on while it's connected and it clicks 3 times but doesn't connect. What does that mean? Any ideas?

I bought a used 002 R an had some problems. Without being plugged in to the computer, You should turn the unit on and hear three clicks. After that the light should stay stable on one of the sample rates. Mine wouldn't function properly even without the computer. Turned out to be the digital board inside. There was a place in florida that helped me out called Ground Control. It might not have to do with the software.
Having said that, I am not using my 002r with lion. I have 10.6.8 on a MB pro with a 400 to 800 adapter and it works fine. Make sure you're putting the hard drive between the computer and the 002r.

Theres a FireWire harness that can sometimes be an issue on that unit depending on the model number.

Do a google search > Digi002 FireWire harness.
